– Episode 1863 –
Was Early Christianity Hostile to Women?
Segment 1 (0:00) – Every world religion except one says that you can atone for your own sins, but Christianity stands alone on the atoning work of another, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2 says for by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Segment 2 (12:06) – How do we know that we can trust the Bible when it says that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone? Todd explains how we can indeed trust the supernaturally inspired nature and transmission of the Bible we can hold in our hands today.
Segment 3 (20:07) – Todd answers the modern atheist accusation that Christianity began with hostility towards women. Two-thirds of the Christian population in the first century were women! Indeed, early pagan critics mocked Christianity for being a religion of women. It’s beliefs and practices concerning women stood in stark contrast to the Greco-Roman world around it that generally devalued them.
