A Word Can Have Many Meanings


Segment 1 (0:00) – Context: A word can have several different meanings, but to know the intended meaning of the word, it must be read in context. 1 Timothy 2:15 reminds us to “rightly divide the word of truth” or we can in up the land of heresy.

Segment 2 (9:36) – What is the meaning of the word, the verse? It is found in Context. Example: Mark 2, Remember the Sabbath. We need to know the context of the whole Bible to understand that Jesus is our Sabbath rest. It’s the gospel. We can cease from striving and rest in Him, making every day, every hour our Sabbath Rest.

Segment 3 (15:59) – Context explains the correct meaning of a word. Examine: A woman can not be a pastor or elder. Why? Examine: Women Must Be Silent In Church. What was going on in the church of Corinth? Examine: Truth About David and Goliath.  Was David the underdog?  Remember the entire Bible points to Christ in Old and New Testaments.  The book, the chapter, the verse can be understand based on context.
