– Episode 1739 –
Christians Must Get Over Their Fear of Pointing Out False Teachers
Naming names is not something to be avoided. Christians are commanded to do so, in a loving way, in order to warn the potential followers. There are many biblical examples of apostles specifically naming and pointing out false teachers. Evangelicals need to over come their fear of pointing false teachers out and learn to do it in a loving way.
Segment 1 (0:00) – Christians must get over their fear of pointing out false teachers. There’s an inconsistency of people feeling free to point out political leaders but not people in the Christian arena, which is way more important. Paul was naming names in 2 Timothy 2:17 because it’s biblical to point out false teachers.
Segment 2 (7:46) – God sees fit to name names and identify their actions even if they weren’t all good. So should evangelicals overcome their fear of naming names. Church discipline cannot happen rightly if we don’t know the name of the person.
Segment 3 (17:17) – Christians are commanded to mark and avoid false teachers. Naming names is a loving response to false teachers in hopes that they will realize their wrong actions and repent.
