Stressed Out: God Is Your Avenger

When depression hangs over you like a cloud and you cannot find escape; there is a way out, and there is hope.  No matter what has happened to you Jesus gave us the prescription for depression, and that prescription is, He will be your righteous avenger.  Jesus Christ will seek, find and destroy every awful deed done against you.  Learn how to move away from anger, hatred and bitterness as we align to God and put our trust in Him.  It is only then that we will move into concern, compassion and love for the people who have wronged us.  God is for you, even in your sin and rebellion God is for you.

Segment 1 (0:00) – If you have been hurt, wounded or abused there will come a time when all will be resolved through the Righteous Avenger, Jesus Christ. However, we do not have to retaliate or seek vengeance for ourselves; Jesus Christ will come and do a more thorough job than any of us ever could.  When we realize that God will avenge us, we will be inclined to forgive.  And in this kindness toward those who hate us; we will overcome evil with good.  What is the key to get there?   Referenced verses: John 14:28, 2 Thessalonians 2:6-10, 1 Thessalonians 4:6, Revelation 6:12-14, Romans 12:9, Romans 12:20-21.

Segment 2 (10:40) – How does God want to grow us?  Why is life so hard at times?  We must understand that we have a loving father who disciplines us.  This discipline is not cruel, but meant for our good.  Proper understanding makes this a relief to anxiety.  How does it do this?  Referenced verses: John 15:1-2, Galatians 5:22-23.

Segment 3 (16:39) – We each have a pre-arranged plan that was put into place by God; there is great comfort in this.  We can do nothing outside of His plan.  Have you ever asked if the doctrine of sovereignty really is one of the most comforting attributes?  Did God really know you before He even make you?  Has He truly ordained every event for all time?  Referenced verses: John 15:5, Acts 16:28, Job 12:10, Isaiah 46:10, Lamentations 3:37, Deuteronomy 32:29.
