Contrast of contemporary Christian music and traditional hymns.

Segment 1 (0:00) – Satire of contemporary Christian music by John Crist.  Much of today’s songs have poor theology and use a very predictable formula for hits.  Todd compares a modern day contemporary Christian song to a traditional hymn.

Segment 2 (12:13) – Today’s songs calling down fire and for God to consume us may not be too wise as this can be a fearful thing.  Older hymns had more depth which leads to knowledge.  Contemporary songs tend to appeal more to emotions and moods.

Segment 3 (19:32) – We are not being legalistic, we are just making the suggestion that our music in church should cause us to love Jesus more.  Goal for our music: Lofty and deep.
